Call for Applications for the 4th Edition of the UNESCO-Russia Mendeleev International Prize in Basic Sciences

Created in 2019 by the Executive Board of UNESCO, the UNESCO-Russia Mendeleev International Prize in Basic Sciences, the statutes of which are attached hereto, aims to promote and reward excellence in the fundamental sciences, notably chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology, which are essential for advancing innovation and sustainable development. It seeks to recognize major achievements in development, dissemination, and international cooperation in the field of basic sciences.

UNESCO invites its Member States, including Algeria, in consultation with their National Commissions, non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO and active in the fields covered by the Prize, UNESCO Chairs, Category 2 Centres, international scientific unions, and universities to nominate individual candidates for the 4th edition of the UNESCO-Russia Mendeleev International Prize in Basic Sciences.

In this context, two (02) laureates will each be awarded a prize of USD 250,000.

Applications for this Prize must be submitted through the National Commission no later than 5 March 2026, via the following link:
